Dr. Rohit Kumar is a retired family practitioner and chronic pain physician in Windsor, Ontario.
Dr. Kumar  studied Medicine  at  Dalhousie  University  in Halifax, Nova  Scotia  and  interned  at  the Toronto  East  General  and  Orthopedic  Hospital.  He  began  his  residency  in  Internal  Medicine  at Dalhousie  University,  then continued  at  Oakwood  Hospital  and  Medical  Centre  in  Dearborn,  Michigan, where  he  was  a  Senior  Internal  Medicine  Resident under the auspices of Wayne University and the University of Michigan.


His  appointments  have  included  the  Medical  Officer  for  the  Canadian  Armed  Forces  Addiction Rehabilitation  Clinic,  Area  Atlantic  and  a  General  Duty  Medical  Officer  in  the  Canadian  Forces Hospital  in  Halifax, N.S. Dr.  Kumar  has  held  positions  in  London  at  the  Regional  Cancer  Centre and  in  Windsor  at  Hotel  Dieu-Grace  Hospital.


He  has  received  numerous  awards  and  distinctions  that  consist  of  grants,  studentships,  an award  of  excellence  for  Coronary  Care  Unit  Supervision,  and  most valuably, a  letter  of  commendation  from  the  Registrar  of  the  College  of  Physicians  and  Surgeons  of Ontario  as  an  asset  to  the  profession  and  for a high  level  of  medical  practice  standards.


Dr.  Kumar  has  instructed  undergraduate and graduate medicine courses;  founded  and  lectured  Continuing  Medical Education  for  Nursing  Staff;  organized,  moderated and  presented  at  conferences  in Canada, the United  States, Europe and Israel,  and  has  authored  a  medical  information  column, and over 65 peer-reviewed publication, abstracts and conference presentations. 


He has been honoured by Queens University for excellence in teaching nurse practitioners.


Dr. Kumar  has  also  practiced  in  a  teaching  position  with  McMaster  University and Health Canada  in northern  Ontario  for Indigenous  peoples. Dr.  Kumar  has  been very  involved  with  the  communities  he  has  worked  in,  through  committee memberships and other community services.


Dr. Kumar was the first full-time hospitalist in Canada in a team at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Windsor, ON. hospitalist. Dr. Kumar is the CEO/President of the R.T. Medical Research and Patient Advocacy Corporation which acts acts as a liaison between patients and their physicians, enhancing communication between both parties while leaving medical care with the most responsible physician (MRP). The Corporation also facilitated independent research by Dr. Kumar and other associated partners.


"I  have  an  avid  interest  in  teaching,  and  this along  with  a  strong  research  component,  as  well  as  an  active  clinical  practice,  are  an integral  part  of  my  future  career  direction  as  a  primary-care  practitioner/clinical  researcher.  In addition,  I  also  have  some  formal  training  and  experience  in  palliative  care,  chronic pain, and  addiction  medicine,  which  have  been  an  integral  part  of  all  my  clinical experiences."


Dr. Kumar specializes in comprehensive health care for people of all ages. In addition to diagnosing and treating illnesses, family practitioners also put focus on preventative care with routine checkups, tests and personalized coaching on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Kumar possesses immense general knowledge on maintaining health and wellness today. Family practitioners provide more care for the under served and rural populations than any other medical specialty.


He most recently worked as a Disability Adjudicator with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services of Ontario. Dr. Kumar has lectured and presented seminars on the judicious use of medical marijuana, having lectured to the Ontario Public Service of Ontario and the Ministry of Children Community of Social Services.
